Despite Twitter Backlash, FLOTUS' #LetsMove Campaign Holds Strong

The first family has been receiving a lot of flak lately, especially from conservatives. Social media also does not seem to be working in its favor as another hashtag, #LetsMove, created by Michelle Obama as part of the ?How do you move?? campaign, was immediately hijacked shortly after launch. The hashtag was intended to promote a fitness initiative under the same name. Michelle also appeared on the ?Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon? to increase awareness and encourage more people to join. Fallon asked the First Lady about two specific initiatives ? the Affordable Care Act and Let?s Move. Many social media users tweeted about more serious matters and completed the hashtag by questioning how the President and Vice-President are currently moving to improve the unemployment situation in America, as well as the growing national debt. Others also finished the line by tweeting, ?#LetsMove you out of the White House.? and ?#LetsMove Michelle Obama?s lunch program out of the schools and feed our kids so they don?t starve.? Several other issues were raised, such as the high-budget visits that the Obamas have in third world nations and increasing prices of gasoline, electricity, medical bills and food. The hashtag #LetsMove is still trending with other organizations sharing healthy tips for children and preventing obesity in schools through better food choices. Here are the stats in the past month.   In the end, while the hashtag was used as a venue to air political grievances, the objective of the whole campaign proved to be bigger than the heckles. The positive tweets drowned out the negative ones. To prove they're unfazed by the criticism, here's US President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in their latest exercise video.
