Brace Yourself For Laughs: #ComedyFestival is Coming!

comedycentralA comedy festival is set to launch on Twitter lasting five whole days. When online users visit #ComedyFest, they can expect some of the top comedians in the entertainment industry sharing jokes and funny videos and stories beginning April 29, 2013. Included in the list are Mel Brooks, Rob Reiner, Paul Feig, Amy Schumer and Judd Apatow. Vine, which was recently acquired by Twitter, will be used by jokers to share funny 6-second videos. A live event will also be held on the night of the said date. All the fun and laughter will be contained within the 140-character limit on Twitter and the 6-second video limit on Vine. The comedy festival is borne out of the partnership between Twitter and Comedy Central (@ComedyCentral). comedy The online festival will feature a panel discussion between event host Apatow, Reiner and Brooks, who has yet to create his own Twitter account. The discussion will also include an audience and the whole event will be live-streamed directly from the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles. There will only be one event on April 29. On April 30, there will be a ?Vine Dining? party hosted by Steve Agee. The Tuesday event will feature funny 6-minute videos via Vine. Comedy Central forged the partnership with Twitter to hopefully boost relationship with fans. ?CC: Stand-Up? will also be introduced -- a free app which provides stand-up routines via a dedicated cable channel. It uses algorithms so people can be led to their preferred type of comedy. Online users can easily locate new comedians based on the actual shows they find on TV. Twitter head of TV Fred Graver shared how social media has become a major form of advertising and can influence TV viewers significantly. Twitter today serves as a ?second screen? that individuals visit, next to television.
