Michelle Obama Opens Second and Official Account

January 18, 2013
Political groups recognized the power of social media in driving throngs of people to support their campaigns, which explains why both the Republican and Democratic parties heavily invested in Promoted Tweets in the recent presidential elections. Recently, US First Lady Michelle Obama, a self-confessed social media enthusiast, opened her second Twitter account with the handle @FLOTUS. The account name stands for First Lady of the United States. It was made in lieu of her birthday as a means of communicating to all her supporters and other individuals who wish to address her office. Her first account, @MichelleObama, is known to be the Twitter account created by Barack Obama?s team during the start of the presidential campaign, while the new one created on January 17, 2013 will be her official account.
