Twitter Acquires Ubalo In Latest String Of Buyouts

May 10, 2013
ubaloBeing always on the hunt for expansion opportunities, Twitter has once again acquired a start-up technology firm to bolster its business. Just shortly after it took over We Are Hunted, which it used to launch Twitter #Music, the micro-blogging giant acquired Ubalo, a large scale computing solutions firm that creates software to make technical processes easier and faster. Financial terms were not disclosed, but all staff at Ubalo will now be employed under Twitter. In its blog, Ubalo said: "When we met the infrastructure folks at Twitter, we realised that it's a company with brilliant people, strong momentum, exciting challenges and a promising future. we quickly became enthusiastic about the possibility of collaborating with them and the impact we could have there." The acquisition happens as Twitter is expanding is data center infrastructure in Atlanta. In 2012, the company added around 100,000 square feet of space in a quality technology services facility. According to sources, the firm is also leasing a huge space in Sacramento, which industry insiders say boost its presence at the RagingWire data center campus. Twitter has hosted servers in Sacramento since 2010. RagingWire declined to comment when queried by media, saying that it does not disclose who its tenants are. Twitter refused to give any confirmation on this news either.
