Twitter Announces Change Of Guards

December 20, 2012
Twitter has a new COO and CFO. Ali Rowghani (@ROWGHANI) has been appointed as the new chief operating officer. Rowghani used to be the CFO of the microblogging site and made the announcement subtly by entering the details in his Twitter profile. Rowghani also used to work at Pixar for 8 years entering Twitter in 2010. As he leaves his former executive role in the company, Mike Gupta (@mgupta) was assigned to become the new chief financing officer. Gupta has all the credentials that more than qualify him for the position. He used to work at online game creator Zynga as senior VP and treasurer for 1 1/2 years. He was also part of Yahoo and functioned as chief treasury officer and senior VP of finance and corporate development for 8 years. Both Rowghani and Gupta use LinkedIn. Their backgrounds are posted on their online profiles as well. Currently, Rowghani has still yet to change his new role on the website. Rowghani is also an avid Twitter user, with 11,000 followers and close to 1,800 tweets. On the other hand, Gupta appears to be a new Twitter user with only 62 followers and 3 tweets. Gupta posted his first tweet on December 19, 2012. Dick Costolo (@dickc), CEO of Twitter, congratulated the two new officers via a tweet on December 20, 2012. Costolo posted, ?Congratulations to @rowghani and his new role as COO and to @mgupta on his new role as CFO.? Gupta?s initial tweet stated, ?@nvshah thansk for the setup. Pressure?s on. The 1st tweet is always the hardest, especially when trying to land at exactly 140 characters.? Twitter users are expecting a number of developments from the recent appointments. It is very likely that the shift in the financial position has a number of things to do with aggressive social media advertising sales and expansions in other places around the world.
