Twitter For Mac Not Happening

September 14, 2012
Twitter for Mac is not happening -- at least not soon. Twitter users might find it depressing or couldn?t care less to discover that the social media site will be eliminating all plans and activities to develop a Twitter platform exclusively for Mac. There are talks that the Mac client already had a Retina version prepared although it never surfaced. Twitter for Mac was last updated over a year ago on June 1, 2011 with version 2.1.1. The adjustment allowed users to upload photos on Twitter. However, on September 7, MG Siegler (@parislemon) of TechCrunch tweeted:

Twitter has not given an official statement to date, although a number of users indicated that Twitter has not made any updates on Twitter for Mac in line with the recent release of the Retina MacBook Pro. Twitter has also turned down the application to the recent notification system by Mountain Lion. Should Twitter continue with the plan to completely eliminate the Mac version, online users will need to use other third-party applications just as they do for other shortcomings and insufficiencies by the site in other areas. Some of the notable applications that might be of good use include TweetBot. TweetBot is currently in its beta stage with many Twitter fans looking forward to its official introduction the following months. The application can be used by everyone as soon as it?s available in the App Store. TweetDeck is another popular and reliable client that has also made a lot of updates and changes in the previous months. Adjustments were done on the API agreements by Twitter. This should spur online users to start searching for better alternatives as soon as Twitter removes the company?s independent client to bank on more interactive and dynamic platforms. Twitter has constantly been trying to boost the service by offering ads in the form of promoted tweets. Clients should expect more advertisements coming up in their streams because of the application. On the up side, Twitter and Apple have been offering compatible features and other related apps in recent times. Apple, in particular, began providing Twitter integration in OS X and iOS. There?s also a main desktop client made by Twitter just for Mac. Nothing of the sort is available for Windows.
