My third child was born prematurely on 11/25/15. She lived for about 3 hours, but in the end, at only 24 weeks, she was unable to hold on. I share this not for pity or even shared sadness, but in the hopes that together we may leave her a legacy, and so that more people can know and remember her. So, I ask that whenever you may have the opportunity to please do a kind deed for her. Smile at a passing stranger. Tell someone how much you appreciate them. Hold the elevator door an extra couple seconds. Thank a Veteran for their service. Volunteer or donate to your cause of passion. Don't yell (or gesture) to the person who cut you off driving. Any number of things, no matter how small. Start by doing these when you might not otherwise, and do it FOR her. As time goes on, you do it and think OF her. And maybe later, sooner or later, you just do it, and don't think of her... but then you will be doing it because of her. My wish is that through our collective actions, we can manage through the years to bring to this world a fraction of the joy, hope, and love that Katherine was meant to. On the selfish side, if you choose to socialize your actions, or pass this on, please use this hashtag‬. This will let us have a glimpse of the good that is to become a part of her legacy. Perinatal loss is not well understood and is even less openly acknowledged or discussed, which I think is a problem. Thank you.
