definition for: #ClimateCobenefits

Climate policy has other benefits apart from just stabilising the climate. These are called co-benefits. They include cleaner air from less burning of fossil fuels, money saved by not wasting energy, and the opportunity to improve long-term energy security by using locally produced renewable energy. In addition, shifting to renewable energy can avoid the damage from extracting fossil fuels, such as oil spills, coal mine accidents and water pollution from fracking. Other benefits include healthier lifestyles from more walking and cycling, better protection for forests, and stronger and more stable economies. Find out more at www.theclimatebonus.org
