Health Equity ATX represents work being done in Austin, Texas to ensure "the opportunity for people to 'attain their full health potential' and where no one is disadvantaged from achieving this potential because of their social position or other socially determined circumstance." Equity is achieved by recognizing and responding to the unequal distribution of health burdens experienced by people of color, specifically Black and Latino people. Fighting for equity demands addressing health inequity by rooting out the systematic, avoidable and unjust policy and practices designed to oppress and marginalize people of color, poor whites, LBGTQ.
