International Starry Night is a lot like "Earth Day" only starrier! Planned on the same night as the peak of the annual Perseids meteor shower, astronomy organizations and clubs around the world will host star parties, events, and activities to celebrate and promote starlight. Individuals, businesses, and municipalities will be encouraged to turn off all unnecessary outdoor lighting and enjoy an evening under the stars.
