1) The Hashtag #TheWitchingHour was adopted by supernatural fantasy author LA Edwards, as a time to tweet with her fans each night between Midnight and 1 Am or later. Her adoption of this time took into account of the modern literal meaning of 'The Witching Hour', which refers to the time of night (midnight) when creatures such as witches, demons, ghosts, and other supernatural beings are believed to appear and to be at their most powerful, and when magic is said to be most effective. The term is derived from the medieval time when it was believed witches came out to do their "unholy" practices. The time ascribed to the witching hour was generally viewed after midnight. Women caught out late at night could have been suspected of witchcraft if they did not have a legitimate reason to be out. In some countries, women were forbidden from being outside after dark. 2) The Witching Hour is also the name of the best selling novel written by Anne Rice.
