Transparency means to be open, to communicate, and to be accountable for words and deeds. That's exactly what government should be, when working for and passing information to We the People. Government does not have the right to pick and choose who may pass that information just so it looks good. The 1st Amendment guarantees the right of free press, it doesn't specify good or bad press. A government with nothing to hide, has nothing to fear.

Maybe previous administrations did have their own issues with trying to control the press. Since we're not capable of time travel, we can't go back and address that. We have the here and now, and we're entitled to actual truth, without summaries, explanations, or spins. Tell us the truth, we're smart enough to make our own decisions.
