Income inequality has been rising in the US for the past 40 years. The richest 80 people in the world control as much wealth as the poorest 3.6 billion people (Oxfam Report). In other words, 80 people's wealth equals the wealth of 50% of the planet. We must replace the US income tax with an accumulated wealth tax to create a more equitable society.
