As part of the World Refugee Day Celebration, the African Heritage Association of Vancouver Island (AHAVI) has partnered with: the Greater Victoria Public Library, the World University Service of Canada - UVIC, the Victoria Immigrant & Refugee Centre Society, the Inter-cultural Association of Greater Victoria and the Victoria Coalition of Survivors of Torture (VCST). Our portion of this partnership is to host an African Refugee Day event; an evening of Film/Panel Discussion -West African Drumming - Storytelling, and Good African refreshments

Please join us at Victoria City Hall June 17 from @ 5:30pm for a fun and engaging event. We will have the amazing West African Drumming group #Wontanara, a short film screening, highlighting some of the root causes of the current African refugee/asylum seeker crisis. We will also have a panel discussion involving former refugees, a human rights and peacebuilding policy expert, an executive director of a local immigrant/refugee organization, a Sociology Professor, and a local politician.
