Our growth has been exciting, but we can?t help but look at the needs of our community and feel a sense of urgency to do more. We need to do more for the Sonya's* of Chicago. Sonya is a teenager who has been empowered to overcome the trauma and abuse incurred as a victim of sex trafficking right here in Chicago. She has been empowered to reclaim her dignity and build healthy relationships that protect her from the pull to return to her former life. But she will need months of intensive therapy services to fully address the trauma she experienced. I am inspired by her will and amazing personality?but grieve that she represents only one of the 25,000 women who are trafficked every day in our city alone. We have the opportunity to increase the number of girls we serve, but need additional financial resources to meet the need.
