Patriarchy is the ancient system that distributes power in society by rules of oppression. Gender is only part of it. Males are oppressed by patriarchy almost as much as are females. Patriarchy supports militarism, the rape of the planet, and the hierarchical systems that allow established social classes to continue enforcing their claims of power over the weaker members of society. As long as men continue to rule our systems of power in society, patriarchy will continue to rule all of our lives.
