Rarest of the Garnets, Andradite mineral, highly magnetic due to ferric iron found in the mineral. Discovered in the Ural Mountains in Russia in 1868. Refractive Index of a 1.8-1.89. Can be heat treated. They have a distinct clarity characteristic that resembles a horsetail, which is why they are called horsetail inclusions.
