A social media movement started in November 2016 by an OIF Veteran to CHANGE the shopping ritual commonly referred to as "black Friday". The movements GOALS is to RE BRAND the day that Wikipedia describes as "the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in the U.S". Instead of referring to this unofficial holiday as "black Friday" the movements GOAL is to CHANGE the recognized name to "Freedom Friday". On Freedom Friday retailers will offer deals to potential customers (as has been the common practice for "black Friday" shopping in recent years). Unlike black Friday though customers will also be offered the opportunity to not just participate in purchasing and searching out deals for themselves and personal loved ones but be INSPIRED to make a "gifting" purchase for a "HERO". A "hero" can include but is not just limited too Military personnel, as well as police officers, firefighters, teachers, and even members of the medical profession (such as nurses, EMTS, and Doctors). Freedom Friday also hopes to be known OFFICIALLY someday as "HEROES HOLIDAY" and will include "Military Monday". On Military Monday gifting purchases will be centered EXCLUSIVELY on Armed Service men and women. See also #givethem1% referring to the fact that most servicemen and women do their duty 365 days a year but only military personnel have a holiday (Veterans day). So the MOVEMENTS wish is to have 3.6 days out of the calander year recognizing the contributions of these individuals. Please do all you can to SUPPORT this movement by sharing the following #endblackfriday, #freedomfriday, #heroesholiday, #heroesholiday, #holidayforheroes , #militarymonday, #bringUSbackhome, #thankyou, #betheflame, and #givethem1% (note the "%" symbol is not recognized on some social networking sites and can be included or omitted at the users discretion).
A single FLAME can IGNITE A FIRE THAT CAN ENGULF THE WORLD, CREATING CHANGE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
