definition for: #experientialaudio

Game audio that recreates an experience of an event rather than simulated soundscapes. Audio that may seem hyper realistic but is in fact attempting to simulate extreme human experiences.

Hyper realism is acceptable and perhaps preferable, but the immediacy of human experience must be paramount rather than cinematic spectacle. Keep in mind that cinematic and experiential audio often have more in common that realism in game audio.

For example, a vehicle engine might be low in -or completely absent from - a mix to heighten experience. Focused mix is the key as our hearing as humans is focused when under extreme circumstances.
