The world is currently facing extremely difficult challenges to development as a resulting consequence of food and energy crisis in 2008, followed by global financial and economic crisis in 2009. The economies are struggling hard to rescue themselves out of the falling growth rates, rising unemployment, and deepening poverty. The humanity is looking towards the global policy makers and intellectuals to come up with an integrated solution which can bring improvements at the grass root level. Development is the bridge between economic, social, and environmental goals; between Governments, businesses, and civil societies; between science, policy, and action. Development expand the evidence base focused on persistent develop¬ment challenges and identify those solutions with the potential to go to scale and be sustainable in low resource settings. Therefore, the development requires the synergized interplay of the concepts from competitiveness to be sustainable. The development also raises a tough challenge before the philosophers, researchers, practitioners, and policy makers as it demands a tailored / holistic approach for each specific economic setup. The concepts of innovation can be effectively deployed to cope with the challenge of doing development differently as it supplements the required critical ingredients of development and competitiveness including generating new ideas, engaging new actors and bringing the fore solutions. In the quest of playing its part of academia, School of Business and Economics at University of Management and Technology joins hands with Sukkur Institute of Business Administration to announce the 4th International Conference on Business Management (ICoBM) which offers an intellectual platform to academicians, scholars, researchers, practitioners, and policy makers to come up with their research findings and innovative ideas to address the gigantic challenges of “Development, Competitiveness, and Innovation”. The 4th ICoBM is planned to be held in Feb 2014 at Sukkur IBA and it aims to boost the synergy built by 1st, 2nd and 3rd ICoBM conferences which fostered the gatherings of renowned researchers, corporate leaders, and a versatile audience of knowledge workers and knowledge seekers.
