Kell's Kountry Kare is a daycare/preschool in Joplin Missouri that is proud to offer daily animal exposure. Upon enrolling you will be asked to fill out a form permitting your child to come into contact with a variety of farm animals. As our family farm permits we rotate in and out animals based on the seasons, all animals that visit the daycare are considered pets. Every Thursday (weather permitting) we ride miniature horses. Our miniature horses have been professionally trained and are always handled by two staff members. Our miniature horses are not only wonderful for animal lovers but are also used in animals therapy for our children, working to strengthen core, back, and neck muscles. Some of the other animals we rotate in and out are horses (full and miniature sized), donkies, ducks, chickens, rabbits, sheep, goats, pigs, and bottle calves. Normally these animals are brought over while they are still bottle feeding in order to give the children the opportunity to feed the animals. Health and Nutrition: At Kelly's Kountry Kare, we have a full time staff member dedicated to caring for the nutritonal needs of our children. Our facility primarily serves fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats. As a licensed facility, we meet and excede state nutritonal guidelines. Child-to-Teacher Ratio: Kelly's Kountry Kare boats an excellent child-to-teacher ratio. Our average child to teacher ratio is only 7 children to each teacher. Supervision and Discipline: Children are never left alone or unsupervised while under the care of our facility. Teachers supervise our children at all times including when the children are sleeping. Being a child can be difficult! That is why we try to make discipline a positive encouter. Discipline includes positive guidance, redirection, and the setting of clear-cut limits that enable the child's ability to become self-disciplined. Disciplinary measures are clear and understandable to the child. Disciplinary measures are consistent and are explained to the children before and at the time of any disciplinary action. Our teachers guide the child to develop self-control and orderly conduct in his/her relationships with peers and adults. Most importantly, our teachers show our children positive alternatives rather than just telling children "no." State licensing forbids the use of corporal punishment or "spanking" of any kind. Curriculum: Our facility follows a state-credited preschool curriculum that incorporates a well rounded study of science, social studies, math, writing, and crafts.
