W Hotels is offering a social media wedding concierge service that will live tweet the special day of couples for $3,000. Some of the items included in the package are making a wedding hashtag for the newlyweds, where people can send their best wishes and share behind-the-scenes photos of the wedding preparations. A wedding blog will also be made, as well as a Pinterest board with honeymoon and romantic photos and a registry wish list. Although some believe that $3,000 is a bit expensive for the package, W Hotels say that American weddings have changed much through the years. People are looking for more memorable ways to celebrate and spend more than average on this once-in-a-lifetime event. One of the main reasons why the wedding concierge on social media can work is the fact that it connects people regardless of the time and place. Family and friends overseas who may not be able to make it to the wedding only need to look into social media sites to get updates and witness the ceremony. The well-documented affair will cover various social media sites. Couples can expect Vine video clips, live tweets and hashtags as well as Instagram photos constantly uploaded on Instagram. Newlyweds can expect to see Instagram filters of guests as well as hundreds of photos of the various parts of the ceremony and after party. According to Alyssa Kiefer, global social media strategies for W Hotels, the idea stemmed from observing guest behavior, particularly their social media activities. Many used social media to announce their engagement, wedding and honeymoon plans. People are also willing to spend more to step out of the traditional wedding practice and have an unforgettable event. It can be achieved with social media support. The live tweeting service is only available in four W Hotels in New York and has actually been existent since 2007.
