9 Third-Party Firms Pass Twitter's Stress Test

January 21, 2013

Nine third-party applications seeking to link with the largest micro-blogging community can now breathe easy after receiving the green light to continue.

The Certified Products Program was introduced by Twitter in August 2012 to aid businesses in finding the right companies that provide analytic, information products and connection services.

Many users resort to Twitter for business reasons and the platform has also been actively creating more features and products that help users set up their respective niches successfully.

One of the main advantages provided by the Certified Products Program is protection from Twitter itself.

The program provides a guarantee to business users that the website will not shut down their operations, considering that they are deemed as third-party groups.

The Rules Changed and Nine Passed

In 2012, Twitter adopted stricter rules and disabled many applications created by third parties that presented several similarities with its very own tweet stream.

Developers became paranoid in making more of these apps due to the fear that the social media network might shut them down immediately. On January 17, 2013, Zach Hofer-Shall (@znh) was hired by Twitter to take care of the Certified Products Program.

The good news for nine third-party application developers is that they have been added to the Certified Products Program, thereby rendering them immune from Twitter.

The social media giant admitted Spredfast, Simply Measured, Adobe Social, Sprout Social, Shoutlet, Rallyverse, Sysomos, Visible Technologies and Percolate are into the fold for passing the test.

These groups provide clients with various services like analysis, engagement and account administration.

Other developers were not so fortunate, such as PeopleBrowsr, which focuses on analytics. The group is currently undergoing court proceedings against Twitter so it can continue enjoying the benefits on the social media site.
