Twitter is a social media site of very few words. People have to share thoughts, sell, advertise and provide comments and replies in just 140 characters or less. A couple in Turkey did just that -- by getting married using the micro-blogging platform. The groom Cengizhan Celik (@cengizhancelik) and his bride Candan Canik ?(@CandanCANK)?exchanged their 'I Dos' by @mentioning their would-be partner and tweeting 'Evet' online. They were on their iPads throughout the marriage ceremony. Mustafa Kara, the local mayor, officiated the wedding and requested the couple to exchange vows via the micro-blogging platform. The couple had wanted a simple, yet very memorable ceremony by incorporating technology into the proceedings. Celik works as a social media editor at Turkish news website ensonhaber.com. A video of the marriage ceremony is being shown freely online, showing the couple busy with their iPads and sending out their tweets to each other. The groom kept interested netizens updated by sending tweets every now and then from the preparation period until the time they officially became husband and wife. Some of the tweets that Celik posted were: (Translated from Turkish) 'Let the fun begin,' 'Turkey?s first wedding... on Twitter' and, of course, 'I do.' The rite may have been unusual but it highlights how useful social media sites can be in every aspect of human life. It wouldn't be a surprise if this sparks a trend among couples worldwide.
