Twitter Prepares To Launch French Office

December 5, 2012
Shortly after announcing that it will be setting up an office in Australia, Twitter shared that it will also be opening new offices in Paris, France. This will be the micro-blogging firm's seventh office outside the United States. The other six are located in Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, Korea, Brazil and Ireland. The announcement was made in Paris during the Le Web 2012 conference. The news was released just after the reports that Twitter was having trouble looking for the right people to man the offices in France. Based on reports, the company has been trying to establish a France-based team since March 2012. The exact location of the new office is not yet known, although there are speculations that it will be close to the Eiffel Tower. The move shows how Twitter is positioning itself to increase its market share in Europe in the coming year. Katie Stanton (@KatieS), Twitter VP of International Market Development stated in an interview that the France-based team will be responsible for increasing the development and growth of the company in the area by collaborating with many groups, publishers, TV stations and consumers. Stanton further shared that the firm is very excited to launch the office since the growth rate in France has been large, averaging 150% user growth every year or equating to about 350% growth in tweets every day. Twitter will also be focusing more on French cities for the trends. The project will initiate with Bordeaux and Toulouse. The main objective is for Twitter users to gain access to the website and start from various points and then finding current events through the posted tweets regardless of the place or area.
