It's Game Day On Twitter With The Trending #MakeAMoviePG Hashtag Game

October 24, 2014
It's that time of the week again. Friday is finally upon us as Thursday night comes to a close. However, tradition calls for a little fun to help us unload whatever ounce of work we have left until the weekend arrives. That's right, it's time for Twitter games with another trending hashtag. This week saw the rise of the #MakeAMoviePG hashtag game which was obviously intended for laughs, chuckles, and giggles. The trend lasted all night but started to reach high rates of Tweets per minute right around that final hour of the work day. graph The night was filled with more and more Tweets as people thought of more movie titles to amend. However, the hashtag saw a steep downslope in the rate of Tweets as people became less creative or strayed off to bed. Eventually there were many repeats and people started to use television programs in the hashtag instead. Still, hilarity was found in most of the posts which is suggested by the steady upslope over time. This in turn seemed to cause more people to participate in the trend. t1 t2 t3 t4 t5 t6 t7 Horror movies were found to be the most common in the #MakeAMoviePG game. All were downgraded from the typical scary, violent rated R titles to something a child would want to see with their parents on a nice weekend afternoon. A lot of the titles actually sounded as though they could be passed on as rated G. Either way, they were quite entertaining. Pictured above are a few of the many examples of what Twitter had thought up. Some titles were pretty easy to translate back into their original form while some of the less popular ones could have maybe used a different approach. Of course, that depends on whether or not you even know of the movie. Perhaps next week we will see a hashtag game that is similar to #MakeAMoviePG.
