In the past years, social media has proven to be a very powerful and effective means of boosting awareness and reputation. Political parties, businesses and event organizers have relied on social media platforms, particularly Twitter, to gain more relevant customers and even business partners. Twitter is one of the biggest social networks in the world, second only to Facebook, but its user engagement is something that cannot be discounted. Many politicians, world leaders and celebrities resort to Twitter to share and acquire feedback from supporters. US President Barack Obama, his wife Michelle, US representatives and senators and several others tweet regularly to address thousands immediately and invite a positive response or other types of action. Unfortunately, not all on Twitter who have a massive following are being followed because they are interesting or share valuable posts. There are other applications and online sites that offer you new Twitter followers at a certain fee. According to First Coast News, availing of thousands of new followers for a certain fee will not render the actual results you envisioned. There is an online site that offers 25,000 Twitter followers to users at a price of $69 only. In its report, First Coast News availed of the offer after creating a dummy account on the micro-blogging network and then gained 30,000 new followers within 24 hours. This may look good on your profile, but it really does not help your business at all. Why speak to dummy followers that have zero capacity to engage and actually buy? These fake followers can even your reputation when other legitimate users discover that you only purchased the followers and did not actually earn them. Some people will refer to you as a spammer or fake and refuse to conduct business. One of the main objectives of Twitter users involves keeping their following to follower ratio positive but it should not include inappropriate practices that can compromise their reputation online. So, the next time you're thinking bulking up your numbers by buying followers, think again. Valuable followers are earned, never bought.
