Community Health Councils and the LA County Healthy Community Collaborative encourage everyone to think about how a nominal tax, or fee, on sugar sweetened beverages could be use to help communities fight obesity and chronic disease. Science has shown that consuming sugar sweetened beverages (or, SSBs) has a negative, and very dangerous, impact on health. How can money generated from the sale of SSBs help people get healthier, especially those that need it most? Cities and States across the county are thinking about this; it's time we did too. Get in on the conversation.

This hashtag is raise awareness about the dangerous impacts of sugar sweetened beverage consumption on health. Don't let sugar sweetened beverages continue to harm the health of Americans, especially our most vulnerable populations (kids, adults disproportionately burden with high rates of chronic diseases, those living in under-resourced, food desert communities, etc.).
