Richard Avery for President 2020 - A Progressive Republican - I am a progressive, republican, Marine Corps Veteran announcing my candidacy for President of the United State of America. I am of humble beginnings and the son of a hard working blue collar family, where all of the men in my immediate family have served their country honorably in the armed forces. I am an educated, professional, small business owner and engineer. I am highly motivated with a drive for progression. As a Marine Veteran I hold the values of honor and integrity dear to my heart and I want to install that back into the politics of this country. I want to be the beacon of a new hope for an America where honor and integrity is the foundation to which this country is run on. I am conservative yet progressive enough to support human rights not just the rights of men, or religious rights, but all rights, man, woman, children, freedom of religion, foreign and domestic rights, and the LGBTQ community. I believe in science and technology and think that S.T.E.M needs to be pushed harder in our schools. I believe that educating our populace is of the utmost importance, and I also believe in hard work, because not everyone can do calculus. Which means that we should be providing and making trade schools more available to those who can't afford a higher education so they can make a decent wage and not live in poverty. I will push for these things to happen as I was once a struggling student, and through perseverance, a little help from the Marine Corp and support from family, I was able to achieve my goal to become an engineer. I believe that women in the work place and in our home lives are just as important as their male counterparts, and should be treated as such. Women are no longer the property of men in our current age and as such should be treat with greater respect, including personal and medical decisions involving their bodies. I will fight for their rights as woman and humans. I believe there is no "white lives matter" or "black lives matter", all lives matter. In the Marines they instilled in us there is no black or white, there is only shades of green, light green, dark green, and we are all a team in this together. So we should all start acting like that. Stop fighting each other and start helping each other. That is not to say we're all equal, nobody is equal and we are all different, but that's what makes us great, our diversity. We should all learn to appreciate and learn from that diversity. I believe there is a way to provide health care for all, that is affordable to all. We need to find a way to provide healthcare for all, funded by the government, which is acceptable for all, including those in the government. There should be no exception. Our Veterans also need better services and provisions to improve their physical and mental health. If we can accomplish this they can continue to contribute to society and transition from service to their country to service to their communities. I will work hard to pave the way for this to happen. I support technological advancement and know that we as humanity need to work to improve the ability to harvest clean energy over fossil fuels. Not all energy is created equal and that is why it is so hard to make the transition. I believe that their is a way to make the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy in such a way that all parties involved can contribute and make money. This way the transition generates jobs and continues to provide jobs so as to not leave large populations of skilled and trained labor without jobs. Climate change is real and has been real since before man, and it has been scientifically proven, I also know we are not helping it. If we are to inhabit this world for much longer, we need to work together to improve our clean energy technology and make it more affordable, so everyone can have access to it and use it. We need to hold individuals and companies responsible and accountable for the state of our environment, and I will strive to hold people accountable through justifiable laws and regulations. The above are just a few of my ideals. All of which I am open to respectful discussion. I will lead from the front as an example of what is possible in this country and give America a new hope for prosperity.
