Students who live in homeless shelters may not have access to STEM basics: up-to-date laboratories, tablets or even access to the web. Families in transition, particularly children, may not be kept up to speed due to instability.
Displaced children are at risk of falling behind compared to other students. STEM education is vital for their well-being, for their outcome and nourishing their potential contribution to these areas in society.
Any extra attention given to STEM is well worth the investment and these areas but also strengthen other skills such as communication, problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, and data analysis.
These children have enough to worry about. Let's do what we can so that they don't stagger or feel left out compared to their peers. If they can't go to or participate in STEM programs, it is our duty to bring the programs to them.
