We're able to add emotion to speech synthesis (happy, sad, angry, etc.) to give non-verbal people more access to expressing their emotions through text-to-speech synthesis. The same technology fit in simulations to create voices for environments like air traffic control and cockpit simulators - voices with the cadence normally heard in radio communications.
