disabilitytruth is a hashtag meant to allow those in need of support and affirmation of what they are experiencing (physically, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually, etc.) to locate those tweets from disability express, as well as to promote others in the field to locate and share messages to further spread the hard-won insight by disability express

the disabilitytruth hashtag was created by chris traynor (disabled for more than a decade), owner/founder of the disability express page on twitter. the progressive mission of disability express is to create real (in the trenches) awareness and provide insight into the world of disability - especially to those who are in the midst of transforming from an able-bodied individual to one who is now disabled. this is a challenging transition and a terribly difficulty personal journey affecting a broad range of emotional, psychological and spiritual elements. rather than provide a sugar-coated approach filled with platitudes, our goal is to affirm what the newly disabled are feeling and let them know that they are not alone nor are their struggles in any way abnormal. candor and support are mainstays of disability express and its partner organization, LIONHEART Disability Transition. the disability truth hashtag is NOT intended for product promotion, disability "gadgets" or for the benefit of disability service agents or healthcare institutions (particularly because it is the healthcare/rehabilitation organizations who are mostly responsible for the gap in care which keeps patients unaware of the Five Alarm Fire they will face upon discharge.
