The Cancer Snipers is a term to describe physicians who practice in a specialized field of medicine called Interventional Radiology (IR) and perform MIIPs (minimally invasive, image-guided procedures). Using state-of-the-art imaging technology, tiny catheters and wires, these physicians can target many cancers directly by cutting off the blood supply to the tumor, destroying the tumor with catheter-directed medicines, radiation or heat. The targeted and personalized MIIPs can treat cancer without causing the harsh toxic side effects that traditional whole body chemo or radiation typically does. Patients typically leave the MIIP procedure with only a band-aid.

Interventional Radiology is a specialized field of medicine where physicians use medical imaging to see inside the body while delicately guiding tiny tools through the body's natural pathways. Patients usually go home with a Band-Aid just hours after their Minimally Invasive, Image-guided procedure (MIIP). MIIPs can treat adults and children with a wide variety of diseases throughout the body. MIIPs can help patients after surgery or even help patients avoid surgery altogether.
