Independent System Operator (ISO) for electricity(STIMA) in KENYA is critical. Kenya Power (KP), the single national electricity utility/distributor, is the system operator who decides on energy despatch mix; conflict of interest will definitely arise since cost of generation vary across power sources. KP will tend to despatch a generation mix that has the best financial benefits to herself..at times...NOT to electricity end users. This is why Kenya is ripe for an Independent System Operator(ISO) for electricity.
