Attacking difference of opinion in politics, religion, business, culture by using ad hominem attacks against opposition with purpose of shutting down all disagreement.

Shutting down disagreement by resorting to ad hominem attacks, e.g., calling someone a homophobe, a racist, or describing the opposition as out of touch, old, decrepit, etc. This tactic is generally used by people who have no rational or logical argument for their position, which generally is indefensible or outright false.
