Translocation is the act of chemically immobilising (tranquilising) an animal (typically a wild animal) for the purpose of moving it out of harms way before releasing in an appropriate location.
Marcus Fillinger, Director of the animal rescue charity Alphadog AnimalArmy Inc., is a leading Translocation specialist based near Canberra, Australia. His charity is working tirelessly to see Translocation adopted as the intelligent, ethical and sustainable method of management for Eastern Grey Kangaroos and as a non-lethal alternative to violent and brutal Government-endorsed culls.
Despite the myth of over-abundance, Kangaroo populations are in grave decline across the country - as much as 90% in many regions.
Translocation is the future of responsible wildlife management, in Australia and around the globe.
