Crussato is a two-player strategy board game, played on the classic 8x8 checkered gameboard. It utilizes numbered pawns of different values/ranks and 'X' marked pawns as its highest valued pieces. It is considered a chess variant and is aiming to become recognized as "Modern Greek Chess". Crussato, as a word, is a neologism used to define in a single word the term "Crux Decussata" (also known as "St Andrews Cross"; a simple X shaped crucifix), the symbol used for the games highest valued pieces. The game was designed by Savvas Efstratiadis, a Greek software engineer, and it was first presented in October 2018.
