Rock art is composed of images that are carved into, or painted onto, a rock surface for the purpose of interacting with a higher power or force. Rock art usually takes one of two forms: petroglyphs are carved into the stone surface; pictographs are painted onto a rock surface. Rock art is found around the world and is usually a form of spiritual symbolism. It has been created for thousands of years and is still being created today.
