Her journey took her to Sinai in Egypt, where she was seduced by a series of exotic Egyptian men. She fell in love with Mahmoud, a devout Muslim man and became his second wife. He persuaded her to convert to Islam and she eventually gave up alcohol. Mahmoud?s wife and family didn?t accept the marriage however and so Charlotte rebuilt her life and moved to Cairo. One year later, struck by the injustice, poverty and corruption she perceived being inflicted on the Egyptian people, she took her place on the frontline of the Egyptian revolution and experienced the horror of tear gas and the terrifying ordeal of being detained by the Egyptian army at gunpoint.She returned to England and worked in the cut throat recruitment business for a while, until she found it too confining and took the plunge to follow her ambition to become a writer. She?s now relatively settled in England and is earning her living as a professional writer.Throughout her ordeals, Charlotte found that what doesn?t kill you really does make you stronger and in doing so has discovered the key to life.
