Updated and improved in 2018:
Eve Eve was founded in 2002 in Pittsburgh, PA. Mario was a busy guy with young kids and a long commute, so he had trouble finding time to shop for christmas. The only way to make time was to take a day off work, but he knew his wife would be a bit put off by that. So on December 23, 2002, he kissed his wife and kids goodbye, left "for work," and went christmas shopping. Since his wife actually did most of the shopping, this expedition lasted only a few hours. Knowing that his wife and kids already had left the house bound for his inlaws', Mario met his friend Jerry for a few beers before heading back to pack for his trip to the inlaws the next morning. This worked out so well and was such a pleasant day that it became an annual event. Even after Mario moved to Hagerstown, MD in 2005 and could no longer spend Eve Eve with Jerry, his friend Raj would come from Chambersburg, PA. But in the Hagerstown era, Eve Eve began to evolve. Instead of a few beers, it became beers at a few places. And when Raj moved away and was replaced by Robert Shimahara in 2009, it became positioned for growth. (Incidentally, 2009 also was the beginning of Shimahara’s ongoing struggle with a local tree, which is an Eve Eve story for another time). Tim and Keith joined in 2011, which was the Year of the Broken Window (the penultimate Eve Eve story). Then Lou joined in 2013. 2014 was big. First, we brought in Kevin, Doug, Travis, and saw the return of Raj. The full-time group was 8, plus part-timers Keith, Jamie, and Jake. More importantly, this was the bumper sticker year (the ultimate Eve Eve story so far). 13 bros in 2015, adding Roger, Tom, Buzz, Zak, and Casey. Josh, Dave J, and Korey joined in 2017, which was the first year of REACH Homeless Shelter donation drive. 18 are expected in 2018, including newbies Andersen and Tyler (2nd gen for the first time!), Anthony, Carl, Justin, and more. First trip to NARGC. Raj went down.
In case you are not aware, the tenets and practices of Eve Eve are:
- All in, all day! You can join late or leave early, but it's just not the same and doesn't earn you a lot of respect :)
- It's a marathon, not a sprint
- Spread good will and do good deeds (take care of people along the way)
- Leave the cars and be safe
- Smoke a cigar or two
- Wake up the next morning and have a few more while you give Keith the business over the phone

Denotes events related to Eve Eve, the burgeoning celebration of December 23 during which guys (usually) commit to spending the day drinking at their houses or at bars, doing good deeds, and generally having a blast before the hectic holidays begin. Currently occurs in and around Hagerstown MD, but cool dudes in other locales are encouraged to adopt the tradition. For more information, contact eveeve12234me@gmail.com.
History:
Eve Eve was founded in 2002 in Pittsburgh, PA. Mario was a busy guy (aren't we all?) with young kids and a long commute, so he had trouble finding time to shop for christmas. So on December 23, 2002, he kissed his wife and kids goodbye, left "for work," and went christmas shopping. Since his wife did most of the christmas shopping, this expedition lasted only a few hours. Knowing that his wife and kids left the house bound for his inlaws', Mario met his friend Jerry for a few beers before heading back to pack for his trip to the inlaws the next morning.
This playing hooky thing worked out so well that it became an annual event.
First, we brought in Kevin, Doug, Travis Swatsworth, and saw the return of Raj. The full-time group was 8, plus part-timers Keith, Jamie, and Jake. More importantly, this was the bumper sticker year (the ultimate Eve Eve story so far).
The projected 2015 number of attendees, as of 12/20, is 14.
