For more than 112 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. Most children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters are in single parent and low-income families or households where a parent is incarcerated. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, BBBS makes meaningful monitored matches between adults volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”). The agency provides a system of ongoing evaluation and support which is proven by independent studies to help families improve “Littles” odds with better school performance, avoidance of violent and illegal activities and stronger relationships with their parents, peers and others. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Alabama has served children of adversity for 33 years in community and school based programs.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Alabama holds at its core an accountability to demonstrate outcomes for children matched in our programs in three critical areas: socio-emotional competencies such as higher aspirations, greater self-confidence and better relationships, and avoidance of risky behaviors including juvenile delinquency and educational success.
