Blacks in Green? is the producer of The Manifesto. We?re a green-village-builder, a national network, one of America?s most diverse eco-orgs, and a thought leader in green community economic development for communities of color. Our vision is self-sustaining black communities everywhere and ?the city of villages? ? where every household can ?walk-to-work, walk-to-shop, walk-to-learn, walk-to-play.? We authored and teach a whole-system solution for the whole-system problems common to black communities everywhere, The 8 Principles of Green-Village-Building? and its precursor, Grannynomics.? From our foundation of research, strategic partners, students, and neighbors, we?ve advanced from theory to implementation in sustainability, one square mile at a time. We aim to increase household income of neighbors ? creating more neighbor-owned businesses, neighbor-owned properties, and conservation lifestyle practices. We believe this ?walkable-village? will produce local living economies that ?surthrive? the escalating consequences of our climate crisis. Building the proof is our signature work.

Declaration is the elixir of sovereignty...and yes, sovereignty includes inter-dependence, a principle of nature. In the spirit of "i am," with an "all together now"...a table turned over, a candle blown out, the holding of hands and believing for the triumph of good. In the wake of a storm the air is cleared and topsy turvy life is reimagined. What springs forth, the new way of seeing, is The Manifesto. Perhaps my favorite writer is Kurt Vonnegut who said, "Most people don't have good gangs, so they are doomed to cowardice...The Utopian dreaming I do now has to do with encouraging cheerfulness and bravery for everyone by the formation of good gangs."
