NATURAL CONTAMINATION SOLUTIONS OPEN-CELL FOAM PRODUCTS FOR DETECTION/REMOVAL OF OIL AND CONTAMINATION FROM WATER The NCS natural contamination product line is based on new technology that is based on simultaneous detection and removal of oil and related contamination from water. This technology is based on an open-cell foam membrane that traps water contaminants that may otherwise remain undetected. Like a sponge, the flexible elastomeric foam acts like a capillary network similar to the alveoli of the human lungs; the Open-Cell foam absorbs contamination and exhales clear water, one drop at a time. The trapped contaminants are collected and can be analyzed by independent laboratories. Historically, contamination has been addressed by adding chemicals. Unfortunately, the chemicals used can be toxic themselves, causing further damage and resulting in additional costs. NCS Fluid Handling Systems is a solutions firm. With our thorough understanding of environmental regulations and science, we offer principal based, natural, cost-effective solutions that respect both regulations and the environment. The NCS competitive distinction is to reduce total project costs by applying natural innovation to science and regulation without compromising environmental integrity or regulatory compliance. Oil spill disasters have been one of the major concerns of the marine world for a long time now. As a result of an accident involving ships or oil rigs, the ocean water becomes contaminated by liquid petroleum hydrocarbon, causing damages to the environment for decades to come. In addition to killing fish, marine mammals and birds, oil spills damage beaches and wildlife habitats, among others. When an oil slick reaches the beach, it also affects human settlement on the beaches and mangrove forests etc. In short, an oil spill completely disturbs an entire ecosystem for a quite long period of time. Marine oil spills have been of tremendous concern due to the adverse impact on economic and ecological systems. Major oil spills such as the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill triggered worldwide consciousness of marine spill response. Some other well known oil spills include The Amoco Cadiz in France in 1978; The Exxon Valdez in Alaska in 1989; The ‘Gulf War’ in Kuwait in 1991; The Erica in France in 1999; The Aegean Sea in Galicia, Spain, in 1992; and the Prestige in Spain and France in 2002. Today, we are extremely proud to announce that we have taken our engagement for the environment one step further, with the launch of our industry leading natural contamination solutions.

WATER MANAGEMENT Water transfer systems may appear simple in nature at first glance however, the real work is in the preparation, planning and execution prior to pumping hydrotest water. Canada has some of the most stringent guidelines for pipeline construction and integrity in the world and in collaboration with owners and constructors, NCS Fluid Handling Systems plays an integral supporting role in project success. But, long before NCS Fluid Handling Systems crews arrive the project management groups from our customers teams and the NCS Fluid Handling Systems Technical designers and Engineering coordinate key activities. Items such as: Water analysis ensuring test water suitability and establishing baseline so when test water is returned it is cleaner than the original source analysis. Temporary Diversion License (TDL) and water meters in place ensuring that the requested amount of water on the TDL is withdrawn and returned. Crossing agreements in place ensuring all stakeholders have been consulted and have granted access for temporary test water supply lines to cross land and existing utilities. Water Filtration plan and system in place in when all pipeline hydrotesting is completed ensuring test water is all returned to source cleaner than originally withdrawn. Interesting note is that if test water was heated to prevent freezing during testing the water is cooled to source water temperature as it is released, preventing temperature shock to aquatic life or plants. Fish screens on suction inlets ensuring that no aquatic life is affected. FLHA such as - Safe entry procedures are followed with life line, access boat and life jackets mandated. And much more. In Canada, pipelines are mainly constructed of steel, although plastic (HDPE) and aluminum are occasionally used in the construction of natural-gas distribution networks. Steel pipelines are formed by welding sections of pipe together. After welding steel pipe joints together, the seams are X-rayed to detect any flaws in weldment, the pipe is the coated and / or wrapped with a protective coating and / or cement and then is buried. All pipelines, regardless of type, are inspected. NCS Fluid Handling Systems supports the important Hydrostatic pressure test. Hydrostatic testing is the process where the pipeline is pressured to a test pressure greater than the operating pressure, this pressure test is mandated before any pipeline is put into service. The NCS Hydrotesting support service may include the test water transfer for the pressure test, water filtration, suction inlet fish screens or specialized industrial water heaters during cold weather testing. The Team at NCS Fluid Handling Systems is proud to be working to support the growth and expansion of the Canadian Energy Sector and Municipal infrastructure construction. But, equally as important as a Canadian owned and operated business everyone at NCS is proud to be doing it by keeping Canadians employed. This NCS Fluid Handling Systems group of dedicated project managers, technicians, designers and administrators has stayed together and grown over these past two and a half years by supporting each other as leaders, mentors and having each other’s back! Proudly they continue to grow the excellent service reputation the NCS Fluid Handling Systems name is synonymous with.

SEWER BYPASS FORCE MAIN RUPTURE? BROKEN GRAVITY LINE? LIFT STATION MALFUNCTION? RE-LINING EXISTING PIPELINES? LIFT STATION UPGRADE? The existing infrastructure (such as sewer line, pump stations, manufacturing plants) in major cities is getting old. To maintain and upgrade the existing infrastructure construction companies require a sewer bypass, which requires rental pumps and generators. Typically sewer bypass pumping will occur because of new construction, lift station repair, re-line existing pipelines, lift station malfunctioning, broken gravity line, force main rupture, tie-ins or a combination of these factors. Almost all sewage bypass work can be handled by NCS Fluid Systems. Sewage bypass requirements must be well understood before selection and design of the pumping equipment. This includes flows (min and max), TDH (total dynamic head), suction lift, NPSH (Net Positive Suction Head Required and Available). NCS Fluid Handling Systems offers sewer bypass pumps from 4-inch to 12-inch diesel driven pumps available for sale and rent. Our engineering team will assist you in sizing and selecting the right pump for your application. Sizing the right pump is the key to achieve a stable sewage bypass and NCS Fluid Handling Systems huge inventory will make sure the sewer bypass pump is available for your project when required. In some sewer bypass pumping applications where there is high suction lift and where instant priming is required we recommend electric submersible pumps. NCS Fluid Handling Systems has the complete suite of sewer bypass equipment including such items as diesel or electric driven dri-prime pumps, electric trash submersibles, hydraulic submersibles and diaphragm pumps. In addition remote monitoring, automatic start-stop, fuel consumption monitoring and trained HDPE fusion technicians. We are a one-stop shop for sewer bypass pumps and accessories such as road ramps, check valves, gate valves, hoses, steel and aluminum piping, HDPE piping and drip trays. NCS Fluid Handling Systems sewer bypass skilled team has access to the most extensive inventory of electric sewage submersible pumps and associated submersible power cables. From low volume to high volume and low head to high head electric submersible pumps are your solution of choice. If the suction lift is too much and you need to work in an explosion- proof environment, then hydraulic submersible pumps are the key to your problem. We have hydraulic submersible pumps and power packs. Hose and fittings are critical to the success of a sewer bypass. NCS Fluid Handling Systems sewer bypass team has a large stock of hose and fittings including lay flat hose, cargo hose, composite hose and suction hose. Our sewer bypass design team will design and fabricate a wide variety of equipment. Manifolds, pump skids, hose reels, special fittings and a wide variety of other equipment can be made to your specifications in a cost-effective fashion. Sewer Bypass when you need it you need the team at NCS Fluid Handling Systems, because when it happens you need the responsive experts so it doesn't keep happening!

HYDROTESTING / PRESSURE TESTING A common misunderstanding in the market is the purpose of Hydrotesting or also known as Hydrostatic testing of new built API storage tanks. Many folks are of the belief that the hydrotest on a new built API 650 tank is just a leak tight test while others believe that hydrotesting is important to do for settlement measurement. Both are partially correct, but also demonstrate the inconsistency around a full understanding of what is involved in Hydrostatic testing a new built tank. Without getting to involved in specific risk management guidelines in specific end users’ and owners’ specifications or considering the exemptions or the waivers that are granted within the body of the API-650 Standard the following are quite simply summarized that “the main reasons for Hydro testing a new built tank are”: Confirm that the tank is leak free and tight, nozzles, manways, shell seams, attachments etc. In the event a pontoon style floating roof is installed, confirm pontoons are leak free and manway access operational. Confirm weld integrity is suitable to withstand operational conditions Allow for confirmation of uniform settlement on the tank base. Perform full functional test of all working components of the tank accessories, such as: Check rolling roof stairways for full range of operation and self leveling functional test, floating roof drain range of operation, floating roof range of operation, floating roof seal may be elected to be installed and tested for range of operation, anti rotation devices etc.… In summary, Hydrotesting demonstrates a tanks fitness for service by providing an integrity test, minimizing the risk of catastrophic failure by using test conditions that replicates operational conditions using test medium (water) with a specific gravity greater than the designed for cargo. Therefore, this hydrostatic test subjects the tank to a harsher condition than the tank would see during normal operation. Additionally, other testing steps may also be added to a hydrostatic test situation for items such as, uplift test of anchor bolts and chairs as well when tanks are designed for elevated internal pressures (lower than those in a API- 620) or in situations where a tank is designed to operate in a seismic zone, tests for uplift can be confirmed.
