"Gross National Happiness (GNH) is more important than Gross National Product." The 4th Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Singye Wangchuck of Bhutan. Attributed to be the founder of the GNH philosophy.
The 5th Druk Gyalpo has emphasised that GNH is all about the "peace and prosperity of the people, and the security and sovereignty of the nation."
Bhutan has traditionally sought to bring about peace and prosperity in the country via modern economic development while maintaining economic growth does not necessarily lead to contentment. Instead, the country's development focuses on the four pillars of GNH: economic self-reliance, a pristine environment, the preservation and promotion of Bhutan's culture, and good governance in the form of a democracy.
GNH, as the happiness paradigm (HP), has been making international headway in seeing a shift from traditional development models.http://***
