No #IPO for #Twitter, Says Costolo

September 27, 2012
Hold all rumors that Twitter will be launching an initial public offering soon -- it is NOT going public, the firm said. Although there are talks circulating that the micro-blogging giant Twitter has plans offering shares in itself to the public or even selling out, CEO Dick Costolo (@dickc) completely refuted all the rumors. Costolo said that he?s never going to be interested in selling the company. He believes that Twitter will continue to grow and become an independent group. Selling Twitter is one decision that its board of directors will make together. In the meantime, it is quite unlikely provided how the company has grown to become one of the top social media sites on the Internet. It would cost a lot of money for anyone or any group to purchase the company. The plan to go public is also very likely to be postponed considering how Facebook fared when it became available in the stock market several months back. Experts are speculating that investors are not going to be interested in Twitter?s stock, even though the company is valued at over $8 billion and has over 140 million active users per month. Instead of trying to go public or selling out, Costolo has been busy improving the features and design of the website to make it more conducive for online advertisers and traditional members. There are now more tools and options available that will make it easier for individuals to track their progress on the site. Applications are also being rolled out to cater to a variety of mobile devices. Some of the main objectives now is to continue getting more users, provide advertising opportunities for companies and entrepreneurs and enhance the workforce, says the firm. Twitter currently has two kinds of advertisements. Promoted Tweets and Promoted Trends, both of which are unique and effective methods that will help companies bring in the needed customers who matter most to their business.
