#BetterBatmanThanBenAffleck Revolts Against Casting Decision

Social media users and Batman fans are clamoring for the immediate replacement of Ben Affleck, who is set to play the lead role in the next Batman flick before filming even starts. Warner Bros. recently shared its intention to cast the Daredevil star to don the bat suit in a Batman-Superman tandem movie in 2015, to the shock of millions of fans worldwide. A lot of online users immediately posted their negative remarks and doubts on the hashtag #BetterBatmanThanBenAffleck. Affleck will be the 8th actor to play the role of the legendary comic book character. Considering the huge success of the previous trilogy played by Christian Bale as well as Henry Cavill?s spot-on performance as recent Superman, Affleck faces a lot of pressure in keeping up with the image of the dark crusader. #BetterBatmanThanBenAffleck?was filled with negative comments and even funny tweets. Many discussed how Affleck didn?t even play Daredevil well, who is a much less popular hero than Bruce Wayne. Fans even started an online petition which demanded to immediately replace Affleck. Currently, the petition has close to 40,000 signatures. batman1 Within the first hour after the film giant announced Affleck, close to 100,000 tweets were generated, most of which were negative. At least director Joss Whedon thought he was right for the role but needs the proper material. It is not actually the first time that Warner Bros. received fan backlash following announcements of upcoming films. The hashtag was trending on Twitter alongside related hashtags #Batman and #Batfleck. A few actors who played Batman in the past were not also embraced warmly by fans such as Michael Keaton and George Clooney. The film is set to be released on July 17, 2015.
